Our favorite thing in Monterey is to get out on our kayaks and explore Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. One of the unique experiences is seeing the coast from the sea. It is the unique experience of getting close to marine life, such as endangered sea lions and sea otters. Although the sea otters were almost extinct once they became endangered, thanks to the efforts of Monterey Bay Aquarium, these cute little creatures now thrive. They can now be seen relaxing in the bay from kelp forests floating above them.

Breakwater Cove & the Coast Guard Pier

If you don’t want to kayak but still want to see the marine life of Monterey, then make your way to Breakwater Cove or the Coast Guard Pier. There are hundreds upon hundreds of sea lions basking in the sun. It would only be possible to visit Monterey by seeing the abundant marine life. Monterey’s top attraction is the sea lions.
